When someone visits your Web font enabled Web site, the font data that you’ve licensed and implemented (using the Fonts.com Web Fonts portal) on that page will be delivered to the visitor's temporary browser cache. It will remain there until the visitor's browser session has ended, at which time it will automatically be removed from their system.
Is the font data hinted?
All of our Web fonts have been reviewed by Monotype Imaging's font engineering and quality assurance teams. Font rendering quality varies depending on the operating system and browser combination in use by the website visitor. Using a combination of proprietary font optimization tools and hinting strategies, we work to achieve the best possible results at every point size and across every operating system and browser combination. Many of our Web fonts have been designed specifically with screen display in mind. How do I format the text of my website?
The Fonts.com Web Fonts portal interface allows you to assign specific fonts to specific CSS selectors. Additional formatting such as font size, color, or spacing will continue to be regulated through conventional CSS code supplied by the associated domain.
I completed the process and my page is not displaying text using my font choices.
You can quickly troubleshoot problems with your website by verifying the following:
Have you assigned your fonts to their CSS selectors using the Fonts.com Web Fonts portal stylesheet page?
Did you copy ALL of the necessary code (either Javascript or non-Javascript) from the Fonts.com Web Fonts portal publish page?
Have you embedded the code string (either Javascript or non-Javascript) generated by the Fonts.com Web Fonts portal in the proper place(s) on your Web pages’ HTML code page?
What if I do not know what CSS selectors are used within my website?
If you are editing a personal Web site, then you should already have access to the code, including the CSS selectors, through your HTML code editor. If you are editing a social media or blog site, then that Web site should provide you with an HTML editing tool, usually as part of the user interface. In most cases you will need to manually parse through the code to find the CSS selectors, but they are usually found near the beginning of the HTML code. Some of the more popular CSS selectors to look for are: H1, H2, div, body, bodycopy, header and footer.

No, multiple fonts cannot be assigned to a single selector. Each style must be assigned to a unique selector.
Will using Web fonts increase the size of my Web pages?
In order to display on the visitor’s machine, a Web font must be downloaded – just like images and video. However, font files are relatively small in size. On average, our Latin fonts range from 40-50KB in size. Also, depending on user settings, a browser will cache a Web font. This means that if a Web font is used on multiple pages, the font file is only downloaded when a visitor views the first page on your website that uses the font and not when viewing subsequent pages that use that font.
Is it possible to override a Web font assignment?
Yes. If you have assigned a Web font to a particular text group and would like to use a different font for one instance of that text, adjust your code keeping in mind the rules of CSS specificity to make the exception. A detailed description of CSS specificity can be found
here (
Link opens in a new window.).
Can I use my desktop downloads to download the same font more than once?
Yes. As long as the font is eligible for desktop download, it will appear in your list of available fonts for download even if you have downloaded it previously. Subsequent downloads of the same font do count toward your 30 day allotment of desktop downloads.
My website is not properly displaying text using Chinese, Japanese or Korean Web fonts.
Fonts.com Web Fonts uses proprietary technology to overcome the challenges of displaying East Asian languages.
